We are excited to kick off our 5th annual Growing Future Assets Investment Competition!  Our last competition saw us expand even further across Scotland in search of the brightest new talents in the investment world.

Our competition is designed to inspire and equip young women across Scotland with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic field of investment management. Over the past four years, the number of entries has surged, responding to the growing demand for greater representation of women in this sector.

For schools, participating in this competition offers a unique opportunity to engage students in real-world financial concepts, enhance their critical thinking and analytical skills, and prepare them for future careers. It’s a fantastic way to enrich the curriculum, inspire confidence, and encourage leadership among young women. 

Despite the financial services industry’s large workforce, women are still underrepresented especially in investment management roles. As of 2022, only 12% of UK fund managers are women, underscoring the importance of initiatives like ours to bridge the gender gap.  

The annual pitching competition invites teams of girls to select a company they believe is a strong long-term investment and present their case to a panel of experts. Each team is paired with a dedicated Competition Coach—an experienced professional from the investment industry—who provides valuable insights, mentorship, and real-world advice throughout the process. This hands-on activity not only helps the girls build solid transferable skills but also gives them practical experience, offering a unique glimpse into potential future career paths. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to develop critical skills and industry knowledge.
