What is Investment Management
Now that we’ve explored the basics of investing, it’s time to dive into the world of Investment Management.
Investment management is the professional management of money and other assets with the goal of helping individuals or organisations grow their wealth over time or meet specific financial goals.
It includes:
-
Making investment decisions – choosing where to put money (e.g., in shares, property, or funds). (Covered in Module 2)
-
Monitoring performance – keeping track of how those investments are doing and adjusting as needed. (Covered in Module 4)
-
Managing risk – balancing potential gains with possible losses. (Covered in Module 5)
-
Planning for the future – aligning investments with long-term goals like retirement, buying a house, or funding education.
Investment management can be done by individuals on their own, but it’s often handled by professionals at firms like asset management companies or banks, especially when large amounts of money are involved. If you would like to learn about some of these firms in Scotland visit our partner page.
