Emma Darling
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background
Hi, my name is Emma, I am from Edinburgh and went to Preston Lodge High School. I have just finished my first year of my Psychology course at Heriot-Watt University. I have always had an interest in Business/ Finance Careers, but Future Assets allowed me to explore the hidden world of investment.
What was your experience like with Future Asset?
I got involved through school, as the competition was mentioned to my sisters and we wanted to compete together. I loved the aspect of collaborating with teachers, coaches and team members. I really enjoyed the research work and meeting our competition coach. Future Assets influenced me to explore a career path I didn’t think was possible for me.
What are your current career goals or aspirations?
I am passionate about pursuing a role in the investment industry. I am interested in many areas, such as Private Equity. Â
What advice would you give to students thinking about considering a career in finance?
My advice to students would be to get involved as not only does it expand your knowledge but it also increases confidence and allows you to build relationships with industry experts.Â
What advice would you give to firms and employers?Â
My advice would be to take a chance on  young workers as even though we may not have all the knowledge we are willing to learn it.
