Competition Winners 2026

Who said investing couldn’t be fun? This year’s Competition winners smashed industry stereotypes and proved at our Finals Event that investment is anything but boring.

This year’s junior category winners where Hamilton Grammar School in South Lanarkshire

The team, Neve, Hannah, Ayesha, Ella, Eilidh and Emily, impressed judges with their well‑researched and engaging pitch on renewable energy company Drax. Guided by their teacher Reece Lyons, currently in his first year of teaching, the pupils demonstrated strong analytical skills, creativity and confidence.

The judges praised the team for their insight, enthusiasm and inventive presentation style. Taking to the stage in personalised sunglasses and props, the pupils delivered a pitch that brought their argument to life. Their victory secured £800 for Hamilton Grammar along with vouchers for each team member.

Hamilton Grammar’s success continued with teacher Reece Lyons being awarded Runner Up for the Future Asset Teacher Champion of the Year Award – a new award recognising educators who go above and beyond to support the programme.

Senior  category Competition winners where Lasswade High School in Midlothian.

The winning S5 team, Khadijah, Stephanie, Aisla and Maria, worked under the guidance of their teacher, Kelly Smith, and their dedicated Competition Coach, Richard Barry from Walter Scott.

Their well‑researched pitch on industrial gas company Linde impressed judges with its professionalism and creativity. The team even took to the stage wearing personalised lab coats featuring the Lasswade school badge and Future Asset slogan #IAmAnAsset. The successful team won £1000 for their school as part of their prize.

Team member Stephanie reflected on her experience, saying:

“It was an honour to take part in such an incredible opportunity like Future Asset. The skills and teamwork the competition taught us will stick with us forever, as will the unforgettable memories we created, which have brought us all so much closer together.”

Midlothian’s success didn’t end there. Penicuik High School secured the Runner Up position in the same category, with pupils Gemma, Freya, Eleanor, Mylah, Amy W and Amy Y taking second place in the national finals.

Midlothian Provost Debbi McCall attended the awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of both teams and to recognise the growing financial talent emerging from Midlothian’s young people
