Expanding Opportunities: Future Asset offers NPA Accreditation to Pupils
This year, we’re thrilled to announce that selected students participating in the Growing Future Assets Investment Competition will receive SQA Accreditation. The National Progression Award (NPA) in Enterprise and Employability equips students with valuable, transferable skills applicable in any employment setting, including self-employment.
Earlier this year we worked with Kirtsy Hair, Teaching Fellow at the University of Strathclyde, and Kate Gascoigne, Business Teacher at Preston Lodge High School, to pilot the Accreditation with 10 former competition contestants. Kate highlighted the importance of this accreditation, saying , “We all know that qualifications are an indicator of a fulfilling and financially secure future so pairing the competition up with a qualification is something that’s really needed and something that the girls work hard to achieve. .”
We’re proud to share that all 10 girls who participated in the pilot achieved their NPA at level 6, the same level as SQA Highers.
As Lenka Nagle, a Business Teacher at Kingussie High School, highlighted, “Schools are measured through their attainment, and competitions such as Future Asset are not measured through the school and yet there’s no question that everybody values it. With accreditation, schools and students can show off what they have achieved”
We believe that combining the competition with a qualification provides tangible recognition of the hard work and skills the girls develop.
We are excited to expand this opportunity to more schools participating in the competition. If you’re interested in learning more about the NPA and how your school can get involved, please email helen@futureasset.org.uk.
