So What is ESG?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is a framework used to measure the sustainability and ethical impact of a company. Investors are increasingly interested in ESG as Companies who prioritise ESG are more likely to do well in the future and therefore make more money for the Investor. Let’s Break it down…
Environmental (E)
A company’s impact on the planet—This can be their waste, emissions, energy use, and climate action. What steps have they taken to become more environmentally friendly?
Social (S)
Their treatment of people—fairness, diversity, and community impact. How are their workers treated, how are they paid and what does their workforce look like?
Governance (G)
How it’s run—ethical decisions, transparency, and accountability. What is the diversity like on their boards and have there been any controversies?
